He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Bennett and Ida DeLoach Bennett; his daughter Carol Paula Bennett; and his siblings, Jewel Bennett Sapp, W. C. Bennett, Roosevelt Bennett and Cleo Bennett.

He is survived by: his wife Hazel Bennett Ellis; his sons, Timothy Bennett of Echols County, Michael Henderson (Alicia) of Echols County, Ethan Henderson of Echols County and David Amerson of Pitts, Georgia.; his sister Caroline Gritz (Jeff) of Jennings, Florida.; his niece Carolee Tucker; and his great-nephews, Brandon and Clyde. He is also survived by nephews, and cousins.
