He is survived by: his son Michael Cox, Jr.; his grandchildren, Georgia Cox and Luster Cox; his brothers, Jerry Cox (Amy) and Wesley Harper; and his nieces and nephews, Jacob Cox, Adrihana Cox, Charlie Harper, Amanda Allen, Shelby Sides and April Harper.
