He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas Carl "D. C." Nicholson, Jr. and Frances Dawson Nicholson; his wife Lois McCullough Nicholson; and his brother Ernest Nicholson. He is survived by: his children, Gail Fountain (Jon) of Macon, Carla Baert of Dallas, Patricia Yearta (Matt) of Thomaston, Bubba Jordan (Kelli) of Thomaston and Kitty Vaughn of Barnesville; his grandchildren, Jessica, Racheal (Jimmy), Katie, Cody, Max (Kaylee), Bridgette (Ryan), Brook, Richard and Amanda; his siblings, Thomas Nicholson (Donna) of Macon, Carol Silver (Alton) of Forsyth, Ann Faulkner Barnesville (Jerry), Alvin Nicholson of Barnesville and Elaine Owens (David) of Barnesville; and his pet Brutus. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
