He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis P. Gibson and Nada Gibson; his siblings, Mark Gibson and Catherine "Kitty" Treese; and his granddaughter Laura Fortenberry.

He is survived by: his significant other Tracy Gibson; his children, Ashley Skelton (Eli), Heath Armstrong (Michelle), Stephen Gibson (Jennifer) and Nicholas O'Neal; and his siblings, Cynthia "Cindy" Gibson, Joanna Nicholson and Guy Gibson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
