With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alton Dawson (Barnesville, Georgia), born in Talbotton, Georgia, who passed away on October 2, 2021 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Flossie Mallory Dawson and Jim Dawson; his wife Sherry Dean Jordan; his daughters, Dorothy Mae Walker and Betty Gray; his grandson Anthony DeAndre Colquitt; and his siblings, Robert Lee Dawson, John Henry Dawson and Lovie Thornton.
He is survived by: his children, Doris Holloway (Ronnie) of Thomaston, GA, Leroy Dawson (Denise) of Los Angeles, CA and John Alton Dawson (Ann) of Thomaston, GA; and his sister Lula Mae Riley of Butler, GA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
He began attending New Lincoln Park A. M. E. Church and was very faithful until the pandemic occurred.
