She was predeceased by: her parents, J. C. Hinson and Sarah Melissa Mathews Hinson; the father of her children Duane Brookins; and her son Ray Brookins. She is survived by: her sons, David Brookins (Brenda) of Morganton, GA and Marcus Brookins of Donalsonville, GA; her grandchildren, Barry Brookins (Meredith), Nikki Martin (Travis) and Travis Brookins; her great grandchildren, Conrad Brookins, Grayson Brookins and Tanner Martin; and her siblings, Ladon Hinson (Sandra) of Newton, AL, Mae Jackson of Dothan, AL, Barbara Dale Deese (W. J.) of Cottonwood, AL and Gurtha Murphy of Danberry, NC.. She is also survived by numerous niece and nephews.
