He was predeceased by: his father Leon Arthur Carlton (late Laverne Gay Carlton); and his siblings, Danita Carlton and Joseph Carlton. He is survived by: his mother Genova Carlton of Forsyth, Georgia; his wife Shirley Carlton of Bainbridge; his children, Marie Strickland (Roger) of Tallahassee, Florida and Justin Carlton of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Matthew Strickland and Morgan Strickland of Tallahassee; and his sisters, Debbie Walterhouse (Jim) of Roanoke, Virginia, Sonia Ward (Joe) of Valdosta and Cathy Sanders (Jay) of Forsyth. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
