He was predeceased by: his wife June Sopko Winkler of Stony Point; and his son John Charles Winkler, II. He is survived by: his daughter Jill Dromsky (Joe Dromsky) of Augusta, GA; his daughter-in-law Tina Winkler of Fredericksburg, VA.; and his siblings, Jerry Winkler of Parsons, Julie Sprott of Santa Fe and Joyce Hamlin of Austin, Texas..
