He was predeceased by: his parents, George O'Shield and Dessie O'Shield; and his siblings, Gene O'Shield, Fred, Harold and G. W. O'Shield.
He is survived by: his children, Michael S. O'Shield of Auburn, Matthew O'Shield (Adrenne) of Morristown, TX, Benjamin O'Shield (Jessie) of Salisbury, MD, Rebecca Urena of Auburn and Joanna Stephens (Marcus) of Cumming, GA; and his sisters, Juanita Dancy of Charlotte, NC, Grace Dickens (Lloyd) of Greenville, SC and Martha Bates of Travelers, SC. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
