She was predeceased by: her parent Charles Buice; her son Denny Hudson; and her sister Bonnie Costello. She is survived by: her parent Joyce Evonne Johnson Buice; her husband Richard Schmidt; her children, Mary German, Barry German, Larissa Bassett and Kevin Buice; her daughter-in-law Shelley Burris; her grandchildren, Ethan German, Malia German, Nathan Bassett, Bella Buice and Hudson Burris; and her siblings, Lee Buice, Dennis Buice and Bennie Buice.
