He was predeceased by: his mother Sibile Borders; his wife Yonine Borders (Nina); his father Thad Cole Borders Sr.; and his sister Dale Borders. He is survived by: his son Dr. Marcus J. W. Borders; and his brother Thad C. Borders Jr. (Betty). He is also survived by nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, extended family, church family, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Herschel Thornton Mortuary (3346 M. L. K. Jr Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30331). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Christian Love Baptist Church (875 Cascade Rd, Atlanta, GA 30311).
A longtime active member of The Chapel of Christian Love Baptist Church, Sam received recognition for his contributions to The Unity Mass Choir and his service as an usher.
