He was predeceased by: his parents, Gus Balom and Sittie Mae Hamilton Balom. He is survived by: his children, Sammie John Balom, Jr. (Linda) of City, Elvester Balom-Sewell of Lithia Springs and Gloria Jean Balom-Reid of Delray Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Morris M. Balom (Charlene), Isaac Davis (Sonya), Michael Davis (Yvette) of Trenton, Ian P. Balom (Christa) of South Orange, Lynette Blatch (Jacqueline) of Sarasota, Iris Blatch and Heather Balom-King (Jimmie) of Douglasville, Georgia; his sister-in-law Patricia Balom of Lakeland, Florida; his nephew Reverend Albert W. Holmes (Earlene) of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and his niece Laura Jefferson-Evans of Peachtree City, Georgia. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; a host of great, great grandchildren.
