She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Minna Debrot and Adolphe Debrot. She is survived by: her friend France.

In lieu of flowers, Karen requested donations in her honor be made to the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, Birds Georgia, or the American Bird Conservancy.
