It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Wilcox Hamilton Jr. (Atlanta, Georgia), born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on June 14, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Blanton Hamilton and Joseph Wilcox Hamilton; his brother Edgar Blanton Hamilton; and his sister-in-law Edith Moore Hamilton. He is survived by: his children, Joseph W. Hamilton, III (Margaret), John Candler Hamilton (Susan) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Hamilton Verner (Bill); his grandchildren, John Candler Hamilton, Jr. (Becca), Reid Justus Hamilton (Mary Lynne), Tillman Hamilton Fossas (Aaron), Virginia Hamilton Stelling (John), Catherine Hamilton Humphries (Rex), Frances Hamilton Burkett (Nathan), Mary Charles Hamilton, Dorothy Elizabeth Verner and Josephine Estes Verner; his great grandchildren, John Hamilton III, Mary Walker Hamilton, Haley Hamilton and Hamilton Stelling; and his siblings-in-law, John S. "Jack" Candler, Jr. and Katherine Birdsong Candler. He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
