With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan Newton Portman (Atlanta, Georgia), who passed away on November 3, 2023 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband John C. Portman, Jr.; her parents, George Newton and Birdie Newton; her siblings, Melitta Stradley and George Newton; and her sons, Jae Phillip Portman and John C. Portman III.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Wayne Portman (Kate), Jeffery Lin Portman (Lisa), Jana Portman Simmons and Jarel Penn Portman (Traylor). She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
