He was predeceased by: his parents, Goodman Basil, II and Dacy Pugh Espy; his daughter Anne Neal Espy; and his brother Patrick Newton Espy. He is survived by: his daughters, Margaux Hockin (Jaime) and Brittany Ward (Sean); his brothers, Isaac Espy (Carol), Paul Espy (Suellen) and G. B.; and his deep Christian.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Peachtree Presbyterian Church (3434 Roswell Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30305). A reception was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

“I’m so sorry to hear of Dr Espy’s passing. I worked with him in Labor/delivery for over 30yrs. We delivered so many babies together and I have beautiful memories of those times. He was a special man that left a very wonderful legacy. RIP Doc,job well done!”
