She was predeceased by: her parents, Sara "Tye" Pierce Drummond and Richard Drummond; her great-grandparents, Ella Wilkinson Pierce and Cason Pierce; and her grandparents, Lucile Morris Pierce and Benjamin Terrell Pierce.
She is survived by: her husband Jerry Ray Smith; her son Jerald "Scott" Smith; her daughter-in-law Jessica Giraldo-Lopez Smith; her siblings, Richard Terrell Drummond and Martha Chafin Ross; and her granddaughter Leah Lynn Smith. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Chamblee High School inducted Dottie into their Hall of Fame in 2016 for her philanthropy and charity work.
