It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Vernon E. Payne of Athens, Georgia, who passed away on January 7, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Hawk Payne; his children, Brenda Crawford, Walter Payne (Linda), Michael Payne (Valerie) and Quaison Payne (Carla); his cousin Floyd Means, Sr.; and his sister-in-law Lue Ellen Sewell. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren.
