It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Luella Stanfield of Athens, Georgia, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Burton and Luella Burton; her siblings, Bryant and Donna (Lynn); and also Leslie.

She is survived by: her children, Carter, Richard and Sally; her grandchildren, Ashley, Clinton, Kyle, Christina and Preston; her great grandchild Sophie; and her sister Leslie. She is also survived by parents were not just dance partners, they were life partners.
