He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Harris and Fannie Lois Harris; his son Shamon Elder; his brother Roger Harris; and his brother-in-law Tommy Ferrell.

He is survived by: his children, Ray Harris (Carinthia), Rachel Harris and Felisha Harris; his siblings, Mary Ferrell, Sylvia Harris, Lillie Harris, Alice Foster, Roy Allen Harris (Denise), Robert Harris, Randall Harris, Ronald Harris (Sherrie), Raymond Harris, Ricky Harris and Roy Michael Foster; and his close friend Ruth "Popeye". He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
