“Posting For My Father, Joseph Lumpkin. Few will remember that Mr. Marion Armell Stroud led in 1976 a civil protest at an Athens City Council Meeting that positively changed the manner in which the police department engaged black folks. The Council Chambers was filled with black folks, but it was Professor Stroud that so eloquently articulated with facts the grievances of the black community. In my opinion his brilliant articulation opened doors in Athens for black folks that had been nailed shut since 1619. RIP, Jack Lumpkin”
