It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Larry L. Hatfield (Athens, Georgia), who passed away on March 21, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Hatfield (Graphenteen) and Everett Hatfield; his sister Beverly; and his daughter Marni Loretta. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Wilson Hatfield; his children, Amber McKeague (Phil), Michael (Miho) and James Hatfield (Lauren); his stepchildren, Sean Coker, Alexandra Sanders and Erica Parrinello; his grandchildren, Sophia, Jason, Augusta, McKenzie, Brock, Gracie, Tre and Kailani; and his brother Charles (Sandy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

He served two years as Deputy Director at the National Science Foundation in Washington, DC, and, after retirement, was hired by the University of Wyoming as their Excellence Professor of Mathematics Education.
