It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnnie Tanner Jr. of Athens, Georgia, who passed away on March 6, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Johnnie Bryson Tanner Sr. and Walterette Arwood Tanner; and his wife JoNan Ritchie Tanner. He was also cherished by his daughter and her son.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beech Haven Baptist Church Garden Fund, 2390 West Broad St., Athens, GA, 30606, the Georgia Lions Lighthouse, 5582 Peachtree Rd., Atlanta Ga. 30341, or any organization of your choice.

I remember Lion Bryson as a pin trader, Club Secretary, and for his work on the Lions State Awards Committee. He joined the Lions Club in 1966 and was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. I will miss seeing him at meetings.”
