He was predeceased by: his parents, June Thompson and John W. Thompson; his brother Andy Thompson; and his wife Mary Ellen Thompson. He is survived by: his son John; his daughter-in-law Shannon; his grandchildren, Addie and John David Thompson (Susan Thompson); his great grandchildren, Ken and Tim Manley; his sister Beverly Mize; his nephew Richard; and his niece Shelly Mize. He is also survived by his cousins, loving relatives, and numerous friends.
