He was predeceased by: his father Dr. Harold Courtland Spencer, Sr.; his daughter Mary Anne Setticase Spencer; and his brother Harold Courtland Spencer, Jr.. He is survived by: his caregiver Carole Burroughs Spencer; his children, Marjorie Spencer (David Vickery) of Lawrenceville, GA and James Elliott Spencer, Jr. (Jenny) of Alpharetta, GA; his stepson Wally Crump of Atlanta, GA.; his grandchildren, Katherine Alexander (Josh) of Athens, Spencer Vickery (Blake) of Gainesville, GA, Emily Vickery of Nashville, TN, Mary Anne Schnell (Kyle) of Woodstock, GA, Caroline Spencer and James Elliott Spencer, III of Alpharetta, GA; and his great grandchildren, Laura Elliott, Courtland Alexander of Athens, Carter, Hayes Vickery of Gainesville, GA and Weston Schnell of Woodstock, GA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
