He is survived by: his wife Marian Surratt Johnston; his children, David Eugene Johnston (Carol) of Athens, GA and Marian Elizabeth Johnston of Spartanburg; his grandson Matthew Ruff (Allison); and his great grandchild Sydney Ruff.
