He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert William and Tommie Lou Cooper James; his son Russell William James; his siblings, Curtis James of Horace James, T. W, Henry Grady "Snooks" James and Willie Jo Edwards; and his nephew Roger James.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Christian James; his daughter Angie Branton (Jimmy) of Nicholson; his daughter-in-law Tiffany James (Chad) of Jefferson, GA; his grandchildren, Ashley Branton, Brett Branton (Anna), Dylan James and Bryce James; and his great grandchild Tilly Branton.
