With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elinor Rees of Athens, Georgia, born in New York, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 18, 2025 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by: her sister Ann Myers Williams. She is survived by: her children, John, Mary, Jenifer, David (Chul Hye) and Rick (John Holloran); her grandchildren, Sara and Jack; and her brother-in-law Christopher (Deirdre). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes (1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St Joseph Catholic Church (958 Epps Bridge Pkwy, Athens, GA 30606). A burial was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at the Oconee Hill Cemetery (297 Cemetery St, Athens, GA 30605).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to St. Joseph Charities.
