He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Allen Carter and Sara Dillard Carter. He is survived by: his wife Mary Adams Carter; his children, Monique Adams-Crawford and William Joseph Adams; his sisters, Diane Gilbert and Dreta Hayden; and his grandchildren, Ashlynn Self Bone, Demi Self and Michael Self. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
