He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dee Ellis and Minnie Edwards Ellis; his daughter Cathy Sue Ellis; and his siblings, Donald K Ellis, Evelyn Odum, Jo Sullivan, Tom Hill Ellis, Charlotte LeCoumpte, Margaret Hendricks, James Nelson Ellis and James Roberts Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ellis of Aragon, GA; his children, Ann Palmer of Palm Coast, FL, Howard Ellis, Jr. of Villa Rica, GA and Rebecca Jo Ellis of Palm Coast, FL; and his sister Paulette Goodwill of Aragon, GA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
