He was predeceased by: his brother Warren Douglas, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Kaye Ellen Hathaway; his son Brian Jeffrey Tye; his daughter-in-law Evie; his granddaughter Lilly; his daughter Melanie Tye Lipscomb (Matt); and his grandchildren, Mary Hathaway Busby (John), Annie, Robert and Ivan. He is also survived by his family how to be a good friend, how to be a wonderful father.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.
