It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rachel Hightower Avery (Americus, Georgia), born in Richland, Georgia, who passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 63, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Wheeler Hightower and Emily Smith Hightower; and her siblings, Mary Anna Hightower Magowen, Leon Hightower and Robert Hightower.
She is survived by: her sons, Clay Avery (Elizabeth), Robert Avery of Americus, Eric Avery of Americus and Zane Avery of Americus; and her nephew Henry Musselwhite. She is also survived by six grandchildren, a number of nieces.
