She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Cobb Sumerford and Clustie Barr Sumerford; and her former husband Arthur Buell Carlan Sr.. She is survived by: her husband DeSoto; her children, Kitty Carlan Fricks (Roy) of Valdosta, Arthur Carlan Jr. (Paula) of Tallahassee, FL and William Carlan (Susan) of Monroe, GA.; and her grandchildren, Arthur Carlan III (Becky) of Tallahassee, FL, Sidney Carlan Smith (Dan) of Acworth, GA, Hannah Carlan (Sumeet Nagi) of San Leandro, CA, William Fricks of Valdosta, GA, Jake Carlan (Sam) of Lawrencville, GA and Christopher Fricks (Jodie) of Valdosta, GA.. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
