He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Easter Smith and Hazel Hagerson Smith; his granddaughter Charlotte Kathryn Reddish; and his siblings-in-law, Newt Buchanan, Joy and Johnny Eason.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Eason Smith of Plains; his children, Mitchell Smith (Jennifer) of Plains, Katie Reddish (Tee) of Ellaville and Jeri Ann Faircloth (Garrett) of Juliette; his grandchildren, Mary Thomas, Myles, Neal, Porter Smith, Sam, Annie Reddish, Wells and Hazel Faircloth; and his sisters, Jennifer Buchanan and Beth Cochran (Bill). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
