He was predeceased by: his parents, John Earl Day and Helen Vickers Day; and his brother Andy Day. He is survived by: his wife Donna McLendon Day of Edison, Georgia; his children, Mark A. Day of Watkinsville, Kimberly Killingsworth Hobbs of Valdosta, Tami Day Brown and Andrea Day Payne; and his brother John Day of Valdosta, Georgia.. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
