He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Goodson and Edith White Goodson; his sister Kathy Goodson; his son Waylon Goodson; and his great grandchild Kaelynn Goodson.

He is survived by: his children, Serena Goodson of Alto, Jason Goodson of Alto, Corey Goodson of Alto and Courtney Carpenter of Rabun Gap; his partner Gail Williams of Demorest; and his stepchildren, Lee Williams of Westminster, SC and Kim Williams of Lula. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
