It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Damascus Scroggs of Alto, Georgia, born in Clarkesville, Georgia, who passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Anderson Ray Scroggs and Emma Eunice Hardy Scroggs; and his siblings, A. R. Scroggs and Imogene Scroggs Oliver. He is survived by: his wife Marcia Elizabeth Stephens Scroggs of Alto; and his children, Joby Scroggs (Sarah) of Hartwell, Fran Chastain (Ricky) of Alto and Lisa Lynn Gnann (Pat) of Savannah. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
