He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Whitson and Francis Gillman Whitson; and his siblings, Richard Whitson, Robert Whitson, Barbara Franklin and Patricia Morris.
He is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey M. Whitson of Naples, Ricki W. Whitson (Lucy) of Hollywood and Christopher D. Whitson (Sheryl) of Alto. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
