He was predeceased by: his parents, James Tillman Wilkes and Lizzie Mae Sharpe Wilkes; and his brothers, James Lawson Wilkes, Frank Wilkes and Max Wilkes.
He is survived by: his brothers, Robert Q. Wilkes (Virdean) of Alston and Wayne Wilkes (Jackie) of Alston. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
