He was predeceased by: his parents, Purdie Jackson Cothren and Carrie Lou Mobley Cothren; and his siblings, Haward Cothren, Tony Cothren, Leland Cothren, Albert Spell, Bonnie Taylor, Juanita Taylor, Yvonne Thompson, Mary Latrell Cothren and Eloise Cothren.
He is survived by: his children, Rodney Cothren (Glenda) and Rhonda Cothren of Alma; his stepchildren, Tony Gibson, Charlie Gibson (Christa), Diane Gibson and Maria Gibson of Alma; and his siblings, James Cothren (Willene) of Brunswick, Emelyn West of Brunswick, Freda Cooper and Marie Boatright (Ronnie) of Alma. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
