He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Cothern and Lessie Mae Holton Cothern; his wife Nelda Faye Rewis Cothern; his daughters, Connie Sue Crummey and Brenda Gail Harrell; his great grandchild Findlay Kate Weaver; and his sister Bonnie Griffin.
He is survived by: his daughter Jamie Rena'Tyre (Jeffrey); his son-in-law Kendall Harrell; his grandchildren, Dusty Cothern, Trey Crummey, Tyler Weaver and Megan Bezonia; his great grandchildren, Noah, Eli Cothern, Maverick Bennett, Nadalie and Paisley Weaver; and his sister Peggy Miles of Baxley.
