He was predeceased by: his parents, George Raymond Shirah and Vernon Jordan Shirah Miley; and his grandson J. W. Shirah. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Reed Shirah; his son David; his daughter-in-law Tandi Shirah; his daughter Deanne of Adel; his son-in-law Mike Brannon of Adel; his grandchildren, Shirah Brannon of Adel, Jacob Shirah of Lenox, Salem Brannon of Adel and Wes Shirah of Lenox; his sisters, Pat Geiger of Adel and Faye Clemons of Georgetown, Georgia; and his stepsister Mary Ruth Bullard of Adel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
