She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Harrison DuBose, Sr. and Mary Alice Baker DuBose; her husband John T. Patterson, Sr.; her siblings, Kathryn DuBose Williams and Walter "Buddy" DuBose, Jr.; and her parents-in-law, Omar H. and Patricia "Patsy" Patterson.
She is survived by: her children, John T. Patterson, Jr. (Angela) of Seymour, TN, Adena Patterson Harper (John) of Adairsville, GA and Omar DuBose Patterson (Jirawan) of Fayetteville, NC; her brother Robert DuBose (Linda) of Summerville, SC; her grandchildren, John T. Patterson, III, Nathan A. Patterson (Taylor), Megan Patterson Kirby, Seth M. Harper, Shane C. Harper, Dakota Patterson (Mary Ellen) and Ella Patterson; and her great grandchild Blakely Kirby. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Velva's memory to the Adairsville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 301, Adairsville, GA, 30103.
