He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Thomas Barton and Brenda Barnes Barton; his son Brent Charles Barton; his stepson Donald Shepherd; and his grandparents, Frank, Jessie Lee Barton, Horace and Hilda Barnes.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Barton; his sons, Kyle Barton and Trevor Barton; his stepson James Shepherd (Dustin Banks); his grandsons, Hunter and Lucas Shepherd; and his siblings, Alan Barton, David Barton, Wendy Mealer (Donnie) and Tracy Griffin (Shane). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
