He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Posey and Cora Cox Posey; his daughter Vickie Abernathy; his brothers, J. T. Posey, Dillard Posey, Claude Posey and William Posey (Bill); and his grandsons, Shane Abernathy and Andrew Posey.
He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Posey (Darlene) and Deborah Moon (Jim); his son-in-law Barry Abernathy; and his grandchildren, Lamar Abernathy, Toby Abernathy, Rhonda Bates, David Sharpe, Amanda Sharpe, Brandy Sloan (Posey) and Ryan Posey. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
