He was predeceased by: his father Robert M. Thomas; and his children, Pamela Jean Thomas and Robert Henry Thomas, Jr. (Minnie Mae Little). He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Chumley (JC), Chena Wester (Jerry) and Anne Mitchell; his grandchildren, Robby Chumley, Josh Chumley, Sherree White and Jessica Mitchell; his stepchildren, Derek Little and Lynn Gossett; and his sisters, Mattie Hutcheson and Autry Brock. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson.
