It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Obie Ward Jr. of Acworth, Georgia, who passed away at the age of 79, on May 22, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Obie Lester Sr. and Nell Ward. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Ward; his daughters, Ginger Tanner (Jerry) of Acworth and Marie Dufano (Dennis) of Rockmart; his sister Suzanne Ross of South Carolina; his grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Melissa and Andrew; and his great grandchildren, Noah, Sawyer, Kinsley, Carson, Stella, Maddux and Camie.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who may be unable to attend the service in person due to the state's Covid-19 concerns. If attending the visitation or service, the family and the staff of Clark Funeral Home recommends a face mask be worn and that social distancing be practiced to help prevent the spreading of any possible illnesses and to help keep visitors, friends and family members of Mr. Ward safe.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the National Federation of the Blind and the Paulding County Humane Society.

“My name is John Frakes. Obie was my mentor, my number one supporter, and the best friend a young, wet behind the ears IT SE could ask for. I met Obie when we both worked for Amdahl in the late 70's and we began a friendship that lasted for the next 40 years. I am saddened that my friend is gone and I never had the chance to say goodbye, But the good Lord willing, we will meet again one day. God Bless you Carolyn, he loved you and the girls dearly. John”
