Lydia Gica Obituary

Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life and send off party for Lydia Gica on March 13, 2024, 11 am at Real Life Christian Church. She passed away at her home peacefully in her sleep on Feb 29, 2024. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She was 77 years old.

She was predeceased by her husband Johnny in July 2013.

Known for her sweetness, giving nature, and kindness, she exemplified Matthew 5:42: “Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.” She would give wholeheartedly and sacrificially, expecting nothing in return.

She loved her family, worked hard, and supported them. She sacrificed so much for her family. She was an elementary school teacher, well loved by her students and colleagues. To supplement her income, she started selling Avon, Tupperware, purses, and even life insurance. She aimed to always be a top seller for all the perks even though she was not a salesperson. However, with her elegant, quiet, soft-spoken demeanor, people would purchase whatever she was selling and became one of the top sellers quite a few times.

As a teacher, she was known for her tenacity and kindness. Parents would especially request her to be their children’s teacher. There would be a waiting list for students that requested her as their teacher.

Traveling, sight-seeing, shopping, volunteering, and visiting friends and families were some of her pleasures. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League. Her lungs and heart started malfunctioning and prevented her from doing the activities she used to do, that she was ready to leave behind and trade her worn-out body for an airborne spirit travel. She is now flying the friendly skies.

Lydia would forever be missed and fondly remembered.
