Douglas Smart Obituary
On Friday, September 30, 2022, Douglas Smart, age 70 of Acworth passed away surrounded by family. Douglas was born July 22, 1952, in Elba Alabama to the late Eddie and Gertrude Smart. He was an accomplished mechanic and after retiring from a long career, he enjoyed finding old "gems" and getting them back on the road. Most of all, Douglas loved to be with his family. Until his illness prevented it, he and Dean loved to travel and visit with their grandchildren. Douglas was sure that being "Papa" was the best job ever. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father and friend and he will be truly missed by all.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dean Smart, his sons Douglas Smart Jr. and Jason Smart, his daughters: Robin Smart, Angela Langston (John), Christina Larson (Robert), sister Bonnie Batts (Carl), as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Douglas was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Marie Hammond as well as ten of his siblings.
A visitation for Douglas will be held Friday, October 7, 2022, from 10am to 12 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home located at 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30152. The service will follow the visitation and burial at Pine Ridge Memorial Park North, Kennesaw GA 30152.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Cancer Society in Douglas' name.
