He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Lewis Merwin and Mary Isabelle Pemberton. He is survived by: his significant other Ida Merwin; his daughters, Julie Goodson (Andrew) and Daniela Merwin (Greg Weaver); his grandchildren, Michael Eiland, Junior Eiland, Brittany Eiland, Jeannie McCart, Layne Goforth, Lauren Weaver and Gregory Weaver III; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Mitchell, Sophia Lee, Paisley Lee, Kaden Lee, Daniela Still, Annisten Eiland, Lander Eiland and Finley Eiland.
